Three decades plus a few years after receiving her first master’s degree from Goddard College, Kakwasi Somadhi returned to earn an MFA in creative writing. Currently, she teaches creative writing and literature at Cosumnes River College, is an active member of Black Women Write, the Elk Grove Writer’s Guild, the Our Life Stories Writing Conference Planning Committee, and the Sacramento Black Book Fair. She writes adult and children’s literature, and Coming Forth by Day is her debut novel; its publication marks a major turning point in her long journey to appear in the world as a weaver of tales that examine some of life’s mysteries, sorrows, and joys.
