Join the Elk Grove Writers Guild

Welcome Writers

If your situation matches one of the four descriptions below, you will benefit by joining Elk Grove Writers Guild.

  • I have always loved to write but haven’t had time until now to pursue writing.
  • I know what I want to write, but need support, advice, critique, and guidance from more experienced writers.
  • I have completed my first draft (fiction or nonfiction) and seek help, advice, and critique to improve my work and reach my goal of publishing.
  • I have published one or more books but seek other writers for advice and critiques.

The EGWG provides education, ideas, support, encouragement, and networking opportunities to fellow writers. Several Guild members regularly publish their work, others are working toward publishing, and all members collect fresh and valuable insight in the monthly meeting or by contacting other members through email. A Gmail account will facilitate getting critiques as the guild members use Google.docs to share their work in progress. Gmail is easy to get and it’s free.

“May you live in interesting times.” That Chinese curse has come to pass in 2020 as the unthinkable has become normal. The guild’s First Friday meetings are and will continue to be Zoom meetings until we can safely meet face to face. Not all can attend for assorted reasons, but the meetings are lively and interesting.

Elk Grove Writers Guild is an inclusive organization. Every writer is welcome no matter the color of your skin, where you come from, or who you love. No matter what you write, no matter who you are, if you’re a writer, we welcome you.

EGWG began with the premise that writers write. The Guild’s goal is to support and encourage writers from the initial book or story idea to a finished draft and beyond.

The Guild meets on the first Friday of each month. A facilitator will guide and keep the meeting on track as members share what they’re working on, ask questions on writing, or reveal something they’ve learned that will benefit other members.
